Leaders and Seminars

Tine Papić is an individual member of the IAAP, a training Jungian analyst and supervisor, director of the Open Institute for Psychotherapy in Ljubljana, Slovenia, a lecturer at the Sigmund Freud University in Ljubljana, and president of the Slovenian Society for the Study of Analytical Psychology.

About Tina's seminar. Marie Louise von Franz said that the inferior function is a window through which not only angels but also demons can penetrate us. During the seminar, we will explore the importance of identifying one's typology, inferior function, and shadow, as well as how this manifests in countertransference. We will review the theory of typology and transference and consider how these spheres of experience intersect. We will look at real-life examples of how re-acting out occurs in the analytic process, and conversely, how sometimes the analyst remains inactive when their active participation is precisely needed. In the group, we will discuss our own typology and its connection to the shadow, share experiences, and complete practical exercises on this topic to experience this material firsthand and apply it practically.

Tine's seminar. Marie Luis von Franz said that inferior function is the windows through which not only angels but also the daemons come to us. In this workshop, we will explore why it is good to know our typology, inferior function and our shadow and how can it manifest in the countertransference. We will look at the theory of typology, typology, and theory of transference and how these two fields interfere. We will look at the true examples of how acting out can occur or it's opposite how it can manifest in not acting when needed. We will discuss in a group setting our typology, how it connects to our shadow, share our experience if desired and do practical exercises connected to the topic that will make us familiar with the material.

Dragutin Vučkovic is a Jungian analyst, a member of the IAAP, and a graduate of the Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland (2014). He also studied physics and economics in Zagreb. About Drago's Seminar: Money and the Shadow in Analysis (4 hours). The goal of this seminar is to help participants understand and symbolize situations in analysis related to payment, as well as make decisions regarding financial matters when necessary. We will begin with the classic definition of the shadow in Jungian analysis. This will lead us to the complexes that make up the shadow, with an emphasis on the money complex. Like any complex, the money complex has a collective aspect. We will seek to understand the collective aspect of the money complex by delving into the real history of money and economics and comparative material from myths, fairy tales, and religion. In the second part of the seminar, we will discuss specific case studies in the group. I ask participants to prepare examples and questions related to the topic of money and payment, from their own practical experience and perhaps from life in general.

Drago's seminar. Money and Shadow in Analysis (4h). The goal of the seminar is to help participants think and deal with money issues in analysis. We will start with classical definition of shadow in Jungian Psychology. This will lead us to complexes that constitute the shadow with special emphasis on money complex. As every complex, money complex has its collective aspect. We will try to understand collective aspects of money complex through history and economy of money and comparative material from fairy tales, mythology, religion. The second part of the seminar will start with specific themes from practice that will be discussed in the group. The participants are asked to contribute with prepared examples/questions from their own practice/life connected with money.

Natalia Retejum is a Jungian analyst, IAAP member, and supervisor. She practices at the Open Institute for Psychotherapy in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Natalia received her psychology degree from Lomonosov Moscow State University in 2007 and continued her education at the Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland (2008–2013). In addition to her private practice, Natalia currently teaches analytical psychology at Sigmund Freud University in Ljubljana.

About Natalia's seminar. Working through shadow themes is a fundamental, routine part of analysis. We know the classical approaches to this work. But we also know from experience that sometimes practice differs from what's in the book, and classical prescriptions don't work. In such cases, our work with shadow complexes isn't very effective. In this seminar, I invite you to reflect on why we therapists fail to help our clients recognize and integrate their shadow, and to what extent and in what ways the therapist's shadow may be involved. I will use examples from my own practice and invite participants to share examples from their own practices, especially those where they feel they need a fresh perspective on the issue of working through the shadow.

Natalia Reteyum – Jungian analyst, member of IAAP, Accredited analyst at CG Jung Institute Zurich, in private practice in Open Institute for Psychtherapy, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Natalia has a higher degree in Psychology from Moscow State University named after Mikhail Lomonosov (2007) and she continued her education in CG Jung Institut Zurich in Switzerland (2008-2013). Besides working in private practice, Natalia also teaches analytical psychology in Zigmund Freud University Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Natalia's seminar. Working on shadow issues is one of the main parts of any analysis. We know the classic approaches to such work. Yet we all also know that sometimes things dont go by the book or that the classic recipes dont help. And in such cases we are not very effective in working with shadow complex. In this seminar I propose to look at how and why we therapists may be failing in helping our clients to recognize and integrate the shadow and how our own shadow may be a reason for such failures. I intend to use examples from my own practice and encourage participants to bring cases where they feel they may need some fresh insight into working with shadow.

Olga Kondratova is a Jungian analyst, member of the International Association of Psychotherapists (IAAP), instructor of the International Association of Psychotherapists (MAAP) basic and regional programs, MAAP supervisor, and member of the Russian Association of Psychotherapists (ROAP). She has a private practice in Moscow, Russia. She is the author of the programs "Jungian Fairytale Therapy" and "The Shamanic Circle of Myths" (jointly with Elena Ratnichkina), and several articles in the journal "Jungian Analysis" (Moscow). She initiated the translation and publication in Russia of Maurice Poreau's book "The Substitute Child."

About Olga's seminar. In this seminar, we'll take a closer look at the now-familiar obligations of the analytical profession: loneliness, isolation, and silence. Each of these concepts has a dark side—the temptation of relationships, publicity, speaking and listening, and inventing meanings for others. How can we withstand the anxiety and tension that are necessary conditions for the alchemical reaction of analysis? We'll do a couple of exercises, discuss a couple of vignettes from practice, and fantasize about acting out and the analyst's freedom.
